As of March 8th, 2021
All communities currently have zero active cases among all staff and residents.
We have some very happy news to share! Governor Hutchison announced that the state “directives” on COVID are now “guidance,” meaning certain restrictions are being loosened to the point that the state does not decide for us, but now we have the power to decide for ourselves.
Masks and social distancing still remain a constant at all communities among staff and visitors as state, the CDC, and U.S. Labor Department continue to legally require it. We give high praise and thanks to all of our dedicated staff and visitors who continue to follow these rules in the selfless act of keeping the resident’s health a priority!
As for the residents, we want to proceed slowly in the process of getting back to normal at the communities. One of state’s directives that has become guidance claims we can have screened visitors outdoors and in designated indoor areas (not in resident’s apartments) when we’ve had three or fewer cases in the last 14 days. However, we feel comfortable allowing screened visitors in the building and resident’s apartments as long as all of the following conditions are met:
- The visitor signs in and is screened at the front office prior to entering the building
- The visitor wears a mask and social distances in the building the entire duration of the visit
- The visitor signs out at the front office when they leave
As spring warms things up, we encourage outdoor visitation, including resident’s back porches as long as the visitor follows the same protocol as visiting inside a resident’s apartment!
Another directive that was changed to guidance states a resident should quarantine for ten days after known or potential exposure to the virus, or when the resident has physically been outside of the building for more than one day. That means if a resident leaves the building for less than one day, they do not have to quarantine. However, if a resident leaves the building they MUST:
- Sign out at the front office
- Wear a mask in public spaces
- Social distance
- Wash their hands frequently
- Sign in and be screened at the office upon re-entering and before entering their apartment
Also, as long as our county positivity rate is below 10%, we will resume shopping trips with the residents.
Whatever changes are made going forward, they must be made with great care and attention to ensure the virus continues to stay out of our buildings and away from our residents. If problems begin to arise with the new changes at the expense of the resident’s health, we will have to revert back to only using state’s guidance and the less-restrictive rules Peachtree made will go away. So, together lets move forward on the path back to normalcy, and let life be peachy at Peachtree again!
